Minnesota's Eneferens have returned with a new recording which shows the music going into more of a mixture of atmospheric black metal and progressive doom metal and this is a review of his 2018 album "The Bleakness Of Our Constant" which will be released on October 26th as a joint effort between Nindrune Recordings and Nordvis.
Acoustic guitar playing starts off the album before going into a heavier direction which also introduces melodic guitar leads onto the recording while whispers can also be heard briefly along with a great portion of the tracks being very long and epic in length and blast beats are added into the faster sections of the songs.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the music more of a raw feeling while the vocals are mostly deep yet grim black metal screams along with the songs also bringing in a great amount of cascadian influences as well as the tracks also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Clean vocals are also added into certain sections of the recording while the music also gets very progressive at times along with the slower sections of the songs bringing in elements of doom metal as well as the riffs also bringing in a great amount of melody and at times the music gets very atmospheric and as the album progresses a brief use of death metal growls can also be heard and there is also an instrumental track.
On this recording Eneferens takes his atmospheric style of black metal and mixes it with progressive doom metal to take his sound to another level, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover personal struggles and reflections themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Eneferns and if you are a fan of atmospheric black metal and progressive doom metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "This Onward Reach" "Weight of The Mind's Periapt" and "Selene". 8 out of 10.
