Sapientia Diaboli are a solo project from the United States that plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2021 album "Black Is The Messenger, black Is The Destiny".
Clean playing starts off the ep before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams while the music also has its atmospheric moments and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the music also captures a very lo-fi atmosphere. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some synths also being added into the background at times and most of the music sticks to a faster direction as well as one track also adding in a brief use of spoken word parts and the ep also closes with an instrumental.
Sapientia Diaboli plays a style of black metal that is very raw, lo-fi and atmospheric sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Occultism and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Sapientia Diaboli are a very great sounding raw and atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Burn Without Ceasing" and "Revel in Chaos". 8 out of 10.
