Lysergic are a solo project from Calgary, Alberta, Canada that h as been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays a bestial mixture of war, black, death metal and grindcore and this is a review of his self released 2026 ep "Towering Altars Of Misanthropy".
A very apocalyptic sounding intro starts off the ep while also introducing bass guitars onto the recording which also takes the music into more of a heavier direction. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style and the faster sections of the songs also add in brutal blast b eats and war metal elements.]
Vocals are a mixture of high pitched black metal screams and bestial death metal growls while the music also captures the brutality of grindcore. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, spoken word samples can also be heard briefly and the ep also closes with a cover of Blasphemy's "Atomic Nuclear Desolation".
On this recording Lysergic takes war, bestial black/death metal and grindcore and mixes them together to create a very brutal releases. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Misanthropy, War and Anti Religion themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Lysergic and if you are a fan of war, bestial black/death metal and grindcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Necrotic Desecration In The Flesh Of The Nazarene" and "Profane Sect Of The Eschaton". 8 out of 10.
