Nefandus/Reality Clever/Daemon Worship Productions/2014 CD Review

  Nefandus are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  melodic  and  occult  form  of  mid  paced  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2014  album  "Reality  Clever"  which  was  released  by  Daemon  Worship  Productions.

  A  slow,  dark  and  melodic  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  distorted  noises  being  in  the  background  for  a  few  seconds  in  the  beginning  as  well  as  some  powerful  bass  lines  before  the  grim  screams  start  to  kick  in  and  after  awhile  the  music  speeds  up  a  bit  and  adds  in  blast  blasts  along   with  some  guitar  leads  that  have  a  good  amount  of  melody  in  them.

  The music  sticks  to  mostly  a  slow  to  mid  paced  direction  on  the  most  speeds  with  only  a  small  amount  of  speed  being  utilized  and  the  musical  style  is  mostly  in  a  melodic  and  Swedish  style  of  occult  black  metal  and  I  can  also  see  similarities  between Ofermod  which  also  shares  a  member  of  this  band  but  with  a  more  slowed  down  approach  than  the  band  that  was  mentioned.

  With  this  recording  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  album  and  when  the  music  goes  into  the  6th  song  the  music  speeds  up  a  bit  and  adds  in  some  raw  black  metal  elements  as  well  as  adding  in  more  powerful  lead  than  what  was  presented  on  the  first  track  and  there  are  certain  sections  of  the  recording  where  you  can  hear  a  slight  death  metal  influence  being  utilized  and  towards  the  end  the  music  starts  having  a  more  atmospheric  edge  being  added  into  their  musical  style  and  the  last  track  utilizes  melodic  male  and  female  chanting  and  singing  while  the  music  still  sticks  to  mostly  a  heavier  direction.

  Nefandus  create  a  very  dark  sounding  occult  black  metal  with  this  recording  with  the  music  being  mostly  melodic  and  mid  paced  as  well  as  evoking  a  ritualistic  atmosphere,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  while  the  lyrics  cover  Draconian  Current,  Religious  Fanaticism  and  Occultism.

  In  my  opinion  Nefandus  are  a  very  great  sounding  melodic,  occult  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "A  Single  Second  of  Clarity"  Reborn  As  A  Wolf"  and  "Scorn  Of  All  The  Mind".  8  out  of  10.
