Arcane North are a 1 man band from the United Kingdom that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2014 demo "Enter The Arcane North".
Nature sounds which also appear on some of the later songs as well start off the demo before going into a slower, darker and heavier black metal direction which also has an atmospheric background and then the grim high pitched black metal screams start to make their presence known in the music and after awhile the music goes into a more raw and mid paced direction.
Most of the music on the demo sticks to mostly a slow or mid paced direction while there are also some fast moments being utilized at times and when the synths are added into the music the demo starts having a more epic feeling as well as having a sound that would perfectly fit on a fantasy movie soundtrack as well as using a small amount of spoken word parts while the main focus remains on an atmospheric black metal sound.
As the demo progresses there is a good amount of melody being added into the musical sound along with a small amount of blast beats and at time s the music also evokes a very depressive feeling, on the second track melodic vocals and melodic guitar leads start finding their way into the music and the last track uses some melodic chanting that brings a pagan feeling to the recording and all of the tracks go past the 5 minute mark which also enhances the epic feeling of the recording
Arcane North creates a truly raw and epic style of atmospheric black metal with his musical sound along with the music having the perfect balance between heaviness, atmospheric and melody, the production sounds very dark, raw and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness, nature and fantasy themes.
In my opinion Arcane North are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Eternal Forest Waltz". 8 out of 10.
