Diablery are a band from Greece that has been featured before in this zine and plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Architect".
Dark sounding synths start off the album and they give the music a classical and avant garde feeling as well as adding in some violins and after the intro the music goes into a more black metal direction along with some high pitched screams, melodies and symphonic elements and at time s they also speed up and add in blast beats.
When guitar solos and leads are added into the music they are in the more melodic direction and the band also uses a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the music is heavily rooted in the mid 90's style of black metal and the vocals also get deep at times and the music has a Norwegian feeling at times and like the previous recording the synth is a huge part of the bands musical style and they make the music sound more epic.
All of the musical instruments on the album have a very powerful sound to them and the band also displays a good amount of skill and talent and on some of the later tracks melodic clean singing vocals as well some spoken word parts are added into certain sections of the recording and as the album progresses the synths bring in a small amount of electronic music elements and the music also has some blast beats that take the band into a more brutal direction at times and the violins of the intro make a return later on during the album and some of the tracks.
Diablery remain true to the sound they had on the last album bringing in a perfect balance between fast, heavy, melodic, atmospheric and symphonic parts and while it is not very original this band is very good at what they play, the production sounds very powerful for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark, metaphysical and occult themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Diablery and if you are a fan of atmospheric and symphonic black metal, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Architect Of Manifestations" "Vanity Of Darkness" and "Blackness Enshrouds this Configuration". 8 out of 10.
