Mandragora Malevola are a band from Portugal that played a blackened form of death metal in the beginning bit have evolved more into an occult black metal band on this recording and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Awakening The Impvre".
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the album along with some atmospheric synths, acoustic guitars and whispers and they also mix in with the more heavy material where you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams and you can also hear a great amount of melody in the guitar riffing and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion.
Death metal growls can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and acoustic guitars along with spoken word parts can also be heard briefly on some of the tracks and some songs also bring in a small amount of symphonic touches and there are also a couple of brief instrumentals
Mandragora Malevola move away from the blackened death metal style of the last release and evolve into more of a keyboard orientated occult black metal band on this album, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover Satanism, Luciferian, Left Hand Path and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Mandragora Maelevola and if you are a fan of melodic occult black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Frvit Ov Evil" "In The Name Ov The Serpent" "Trvimph Ov The Wicked" and "The First Harvester". 8/5 put of 10.
