Afraid Of Destiny are a band from Italy that plays a very atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Agony" which was released by Razed Soul Productions.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album along with some clean guitars a few seconds later and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier direction along with some depressive black metal screams that also get very deep at times and they also mix the heavier and atmospheric stuff together.
Touches of ambient can be heard at times while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of depressive melodies and there is also a brief use of rain and thunder sounds along with a couple of the tracks being very long and epic in length and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion,
One track also brings in a brief use of clean singing and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs a more raw feeling and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and they also bring in a cover of Lifelover's "Sweet Illness Of Mine".
Afraid Of Destiny plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric and depressive sounding, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover suicide, depression, solitude and self harm themes.
In my opinion Afraid Of Destiny are a very great sounding atmospheric and depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Rain, Scars And The Climb" "Hatred Towards Myself" and "Sweet Illness Of Mine". 8 out of 10.
