Lifeless Gaze are a duo from Poland that plays a mixture of dark ambient and depressive black metal and this is a review of their self released 2018 album "The unbearable Darkness Of Being".
Dark, lo-fi yet heavy riffing starts off the album while all of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the vocals being mostly distorted yet depressive high pitched black metal screams as well as the music also getting very repetitive at times and using the same riff for a long time in each track.
A small amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the music also brings dark ambient elements at times along with one track also introducing spoken word parts onto the recording as well as a brief use of harsh noises, all of the songs sound different from each other and clean playing is also added onto the closing track and all of the music sticks to a very slow direction.
Lifeless Gaze plays a musical style that takes depressive black metal, dark ambient and noise and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover despair, suffering and misery themes.
In my opinion Lifeless Gaze are a very great sounding mixture of depressive black metal and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "We Are Born To Suffer" and "Life Equals Zero". 8 out of 10.
