This is a review of a split album between Poland's Empheris and Peru's Death Invoker called "Impure Spirits Of Destruction" which was released by Old Temple and we will start off the review with Empheris who return with their raw and old school mixture of black and thrash metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark sounding which also uses some horror movie style synths before going into a heavier direction which also introduces grim black emtal screams onto the recording while the music also brings in a great amount of thrash elements as well as being heavily rooted both in t he 80's and 90's.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the solos and leads being done in a very old school extreme metal style, Deeper vocals can also be heard at times and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard, the riffs also add in a small amount of dark sounding melodies. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover death and necroism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Empheris and if you are a fan of black and thrash metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "In The Cruelty Of The Night".
Next up is Death Invoker who return with their mixture of black, death and thrash metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark sounding synth orientated intro before going into a heavier direction. All of the musical instruments on their side of the recording have a very powerful sound to them and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw black metal feeling.
Vocals are a mixture of bestial growls and blackened screams. along with the riffs also adding in a small amount of dark sounding melodies. Throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as some elements of thrash metal. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover death, occultism and necromancy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Death Invoker and if you are a fan of black, death and thrash metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Occult Abomination".
In conclusion I feel t his is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of black, death and thrash metal. 8 out of 10.
