Corax B.M are a band from Greece that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays an old school form of pagan black metal with elements of hardcore punk and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Pagana" which will b e released on January 28th by The Circle Music.
Spoken word parts start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams along with some clean female also being utilized at times.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Most of the recording is also very heavily rooted in the early 90's era along with the tracks also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts
Whispers can also be heard briefly along with one song also adding in a brief use of semi clean playing as well as the songs also mixing in elements of hardcore punk and thrash metal, one song also adds in a small amount of clear male vocals. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Paganism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Corax B.M and if you are a fan of old school pagan black metal with elements of hardcore punk and thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mythos" "Taphos" and "Zophos". 8 out of 10.
