Labyrinthus Stellarum are a band from Ukraine that plays a very atmospheric and cosmic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Vortex of the Worlds" which was released by Archivist Records.
Keyboards start off the album which also add a variety of many different sounding keys while also mixing in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and the recording also has its atmospheric moments.
At times the album gets very cosmic sounding while also mixing in elements of electronic music. Some of the songs are also very long and epic in length along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard, spoken words and clear vocals can also be heard briefly and most of the recording sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
Labyrinthus Stellarum plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric, mid tempo and cosmic sounding. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover space and cosmic themes.
In my opinion Labyrinthus Stellarum are a very great sounding atmospheric and cosmic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Downfall" and "The Light Of Dying Worlds". 8 out of 10.
