Liljevars Brann/Helja Kor/Octopus Rising/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Liljevars  Brann  are  a  duo  from  Germany  that  plays  a  mystical  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2024  album  "Helja  Kor"  which  will  be  released  on  September  27th,  2024  by  Octopus  Rising.

  Angry  shouts  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  direction  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Clear  singing  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  good  amount  of  acoustic  guitars  and  folk  music  elements.

  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  the  music  also  has  its  experimental  and  progressive  moments.  Grim  black  metal  screams  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  album  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  most  of  the  songs  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and a  brief  us e of  fast  playing  and  blast  beats  are  also  added  on  the  closing  track

  Liljevars  Brann  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  mystical,  progressive  and  experimental  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  nature  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Liljevars  Brann  are  a  very  great  sounding  mystical  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Helja  Kor"  and  "Brannstjerningen".  8  out  of  10.
