Animus Mortis Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Hi !, actually we are finishing the production process of our new Lp called “Testimonia”.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the newer material and how it differs from past releases?

Our actual sound, its more personal and mature. We have been experimenting in this years our own way of creating this kind of music, and this time we took a little more time to criticize ourselves in the creation process, we were more careful about the production, and that was an incredible upgrade for the band, its not that we have change the soul of our music, but we have considerately grown. This album its about a subject related to the Concepts of vibration and meditation, so we took really seriously the tuning of the tracks, and the vocal arrangements, to create a conceptual experience.

3. I know that the lyrics cover misanthropy and desolation, can you tell us a little bit more about your interests in these areas?

Yes, the misanthropy its a subject related to this band, to feel or see the human being as the cause of all the problems in this World, its something that we use to write. Nevertheless, in this album we expose more of ourselves, by writing about our own meditations, and our own conscious  along the musical trip.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

Its just our label, it doesnt mean that we are always creating around that, but it can be interpreted as the dead of the soul, to transcend.

5. It has been a few years since the last full length, do you have any plans on releasing a full album again and also would it be through Demebur Morti?

As I said before, we are finishing the production process of “Testimonia”, we are currently seeing what label can help in the release process, but we havent decided yet. We hope to have news about that soon.

6. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

We had some really great experiences this year in many many stages. I believe that the audience can feel the energy that we are projecting in every single gig. In the technical aspect, we have improve, but thats something that never ends, life its about learning and getting better.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

Its something that its always in our horizon, but we are taking one step at a time. With the album released we will begin a tour that we expect that lead us to new places to promote the album. We are working hard on that.

\8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

Since the beginning, there's always been a good relationship between the audience and our musical Partners. We have received a lot of great reviews and support from all around the World, we are very happy about that.

9. What is going on with the other musical projects these days?

There are some active bands within the Animus Mortis circle. “The Last Knell” of N. Onfray has released a couple of albums, and they are working on new material. Our drummer also has a really interesting side band, mixing death and Black metal, called “Elefante”, and they are working on the first album as we speak. Im working on a record about the sound of meditation using tibetan bowls. That's some of the projects that we are running too.

10.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

I feel that our music will always change. It takes shape with our internal work, its never about the rest, or the external, our topics are related to our internal World, and that's always changing. Our music will become closer and more related to our way of feeling. We have no relationship with the music that we are lisen to.

11. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

The influences doesnt change much, we have always love the atmospheres that create bands such as Dead can Dance or Killing Joke, and more related to what we do, Emperor and Mayhem. We love music with soul, not commercial, bands like Deathspell Omega or Ulcerate are great to hear.

12.Does Occultism play any role in the music?

Music should be open to everyone, its an art. We feel that freedom its the ground base of art, and occultism its something that creates boundaries, like the political divisions. But, we respect the subject as any other.

13.Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Meditation, good cinema, psychedelia in its different forms, Studies, nature, the chaos of the city, there's room for a lot of things in our lives.

14.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
