Emanation are a 1 man band from Spain that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very atmospheric and experimental form of black metal and this is a review of his 2014 album "The Emanation Of Begotten Chaos From God" which was released by Monad Press ltd.
Acoustic guitars start off the album along with some avant garde sounds before adding in some drums and after a couple of minutes slow and heavy guitar riffs are added into the music and at times you can also hear some spoken word parts being utilized in the background which also leads to a more black metal musical direction
The guitar solos on this album are in a more melodic and distorted direction and the music also uses a good mixture of slow and mid paced parts most of the tracks are very long an d epic in length and some of the songs have elements of doom metal and drone along with some grim black metal screams being utilized at times.
As the album progresses there are some fast and raw black metal elements along with blast beats being added onto the recording and there is also some synths and traces of dark ambient and atmospheric music in certain sections of the songs and after awhile a brief use of am radio sounds and harsh noises are brought in briefly.
Emanation remains true to his atmospheric and experimental approach to black metal adding in a great amount of originality and diversity with all 6 tracks, the production sounds very dark, very and powerful while the lyrics cover Occultism, Spiritism, and Scientific themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Emanation and if you are a fan of atmospheric and experimental black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ritual Asphyxia" and "Inorganic". 8 out of 10.
