Kafirun are a band from Vancouver B.C, Canada that plays a very aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 ep "Death Worship".
A very dark black metal sound starts off the ep along with some depressive vocals and melodic riffing and you can also hear a chanting vibe being added into the vocals which later evolve into screams when the music gets heavier and after awhile the music goes into a faster direction along with some brutal sounding blast beats.
You can hear a great amount of Swedish black metal influences in the bands musical sound along with some very hateful sounding vocals and the band also uses a good mixture of slow, mid paced and faced parts throughout the recording with the faster parts bringing a great amount of raw aggression into the music and the second track also has a very powerful sounding bass lead being added in briefly before adding in a melodic guitar solo which are also added on the last song as well and the last track also shows the vocals getting more grim and the ep closes with a small amount of clean playing.
Kafirun creates some very aggressive, heavy, fast and grim black metal with their musical sound as well as bringing out a great amount of hatred in all 3 of the tracks, the production sounds very dark, raw and heavy while the lyrics cover hateful and anti religion themes.
In my opinion Kafirun are a very great sounding fast and aggressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Killer Of All Man". 8 out of 10.
