Misanthropic Might Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

Sic: We are working on new material and preparing for some shows.

Slavetrader: We worked for the release, did some interviews ;) worked on the shirt design, realized some shows and are writing new songs.

2.You have a new album coming out in September, how would you describe the musical sound of the new recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

Sic: The new album is a brutal piece of black metal, raw and fast. but also melodic and straight songs. i think you don't need to hear the songs 10 times to say, hey, that is cool stuff. a good balance between old school and modern bm, and songs to move the people when we perform them on stage.
The difference between the old and new stuff is the production quality, more professional sound and songwriting.

3.The band has been around since 2000 but so far there has only been 2 demo's and 2 full lengths can you tell us a little bit more about the gap between releases?

Sic: We have waited for the right time, all of us have other bands and projects, so we spent the time in writing songs, working them out.

Slavetrader: We recorded one demo and 2 Albums. The first years, we were a 3 member act, with 1 guitar. We decided to fight with a second guitar player - worked out new songs and recorded an album in 2008 which was never releaseddue to some problems with the new guitarist... we found a new war brotherMachineon guitar and started up new... “Menschenhasseris the result and we actually working on new material.

4.Your lyrics cover misanthropy and war, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?

Sic: everyone is a misanthrope, and war is all over this planet. so these topics are always present. it is a mirror, i think everyone who has a mind has thought about the shit that happens every day. we process this in our songs.
the song War is about a fight between humans and demons, evil fight against evil.
Sunset in Hell about suicide.

Slavetrader: We are dealing with topics that are strong and anti-human. There is no special concept in our music except mighty and misanthropic themes ;) No politics, no starry-eyed idealism and no post black metal... just Misanthropy!!!

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the Vienna Headfuck Crew'?
Sic: The Headfuckcrew is a cooperation of the band Misanthropic Might and Parental Advisory. Me, Purgatory and Machine are also involved to PA. The idea is to bring respective fans to the other band....its also possible to book the bands together for a special offer.

6.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Misanthropic Might'?
Slavetrader: Humanity fears everything....it must be might!!!

7. What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Slavetrader: The main support gigs for Setherial, Primordial, Skyforger, Endstille and some festival shows like Dunkelheit, Misanthropic Violence and Kaltenbach, but we also like the smaller gigs in czech republic and Slovakia ...the audience is crazy there!
Our shows are energetic, brutal and fast forward...we are not a depressive post-black metal act...haha

8. Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

Sic: We are going to make a release show together with Nargaroth and one with Kult and Acherontas in autumn this year. There is no touring fixed at the moment.

Slavetrader: We love to play live, and we are looking forward to promote the album on stage. There are no offers for touring at the moment, and pay to play is not an option.

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Sic: Let´s see what happens the next months, but i think we go our natural way...writing new songs and play shows especially.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Sic: we all listen to different kinds of metal. I like the old death and black metal, but also the new and modern. All i listen to give me some inspiration to write brutal and fast music.
Most of all the shit in the radio, dance and pop, this music let me know,“hey, we need more brutality“. Hahaha

Slavetrader: if i have to tell some names we are influenced i would say- old marduk, impaled nazarene, dissection and deicide...personally i like the stuff from deathspell omega, kriegsmaschine, immolation, mgla, infernal war, mayhem,.....hank 3, nick cave, danzig.....fuck so many i could tell till tomorrow
