Downfall Of Nur are a duo from Argentina that plays an atmospheric form of pagan/black metal with elements of folk music and this is a review of their self released 2014 ep "Umbras e Forestas".
Nature sounds start off the ep before going into more of a raw and atmospheric black metal direction which also brings in grim screams and Cascadian style melodies before speeding and adding in blast beats and there is a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with most of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
On some of the tracks they music starts adding in more folk music elements which also bring s in more of a pagan and medieval feeling to the bands musical style along with traces of dark ambient and the band also keeps around their raw black metal roots on the following tracks and each track sounds different from each other without ever losing atmosphere and on the last track there is a brief use of melodic guitar leads being utilized.
Downfall Of Nur creates a style of pagan/black metal that has enough atmosphere and melody of the more modern day Cascadian sound while also bringing in a good amount of the rawness from the old school variation of the genre as well as adding in touches of folk and ambient to create their own sound, the production sound s very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover the Nuragic Civilization and the Folklore of Sardinia, Italy.
In my opinion Downfall Of Nur are a very great sounding folk influenced, atmospheric pagan/black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sa Aurora De Sos Astros" and "Umbras e Forestas". 8 out of 10.
