Order Of Thelema are a band from Kentucky that plays a mixture of occult black metal and doom and this is a review of their self released 2014 demo.
A very slow, dark and raw sound starts off the demo along with some keyboards and black metal screams a few seconds later and you can also hear growls being utilized at times and the solos and leads the band uses are very melodic and depressive sounding and after awhile melodic clean singing vocals are brought into the music briefly and also make their return on some of the later tracks.
Most of the tracks on the demo are very long and epic in length and on the second track melodies are added into the guitar riffing along with the keyboards bringing in more of a ritualistic sound that also almost has an 70's occult rock feeling at times and when spoken word parts are utilized they bring in even more of an occult ritual sound and all of the songs stick to a very slow black/doom metal direction and on the last track a good amount of acoustic guitars are brought into the music.
Order Of Thelema plays a style of occult black metal that is very dark and also bring s in the darkness and slowness of doom metal to create 4 very dark, heavy and ritualistic sounding songs, the production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover Occultism, Crowley, and Left Hand Path themes
In my opinion Order of Thelema are a very great sounding mixture of occult black metal and doom and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Serpent And The Shrine" and "Cultum In Animus Oculi". 8/5 out of 10.
