France's Jours Pales has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a melancholic form of post black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Dissolution" which will b e released on may 10th by Les Acteurs De L'Ombre Productions.
Melodic guitar solos and leads start off the album while some of the tracks also add in a small amount of clean playing. Vocals are done in more of an angry shouting style while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melancholic melodies and post metal elements and high pitched depressive black metal screams can also be heard at times.
All of t he musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the album more of a raw feeling and some of t he tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Keyboards are also added on some of the tracks along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, clear vocals are also added into certain sections of the recording and spoken word parts and female vocals can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in French and cover melancholy and dystopian themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Jours Pales and if you are a fan of melancholic post black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Taciturne" "Les lueurs d'autoroutes" "Limérence" and "Terminal Nocturne". 8 out of 10.
