Manserunt are an international band with members from Italy and Germany that also participate on the bands Urluk, Malauriu and Na Zarot and with this project plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 ep "Geist" which will be released in September by Adirondack Black Mass Productions.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the ep along with some evil sounding whispers before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and pianos and acoustic guitars can also be heard at times.
The music are also very heavily influenced by both the modern and old school era's of the genre while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. One of the tracks is an instrumental and also gives the recording more of an experimental vibe and some of the riffing also adds in a small amount of melody.
Manserunt plays a style of black metal that is very raw as well as being different from most bands of this genre, The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover supernatural experiences from living in a haunted house.
In my opinion Manserunt are a very great sounding raw black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Room That Looks" and "We Remained". 8 out of 10.
