Puritan Bone are a duo from the Netherlands that plays a very harsh and atmospheric form of black metal with elements of folk music and this is a review of their 2025 album "Ecstasy On The Frontier Of Blood" which will be released on November 26th by Into Endless Chaos Records.
Folk music style clean playing starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording. Throughout the album you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one song also adding in a brief use of clear singing, melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing and whispered vocals can also be heard briefly.
Puritan Bone plays a style of black metal that is very harsh and atmospheric in the classic European tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover cover the spirit of the east mother.
In my opinion Puritan Bone are a very great sounding harsh and atmospheric black metal band with elements of folk music and id you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Impudence Swore Ger Allegiance" and "In Throne Of Prunence". 8 out of 10.
