Trance Of The Undead are a solo project from Brazil that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording goes for a very experimental and bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of his 2025 ep "Dawn Of Resurrection" which was released by Unpure Records.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the ep while the vocals also add in a mixture of bestial growls and black metal screams. Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing at times along with the spoken words and chants also adding in a ritualistic touch when they are utilized and synths can also be heard on a few tracks.
A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats and war metal elements. A lot of the music is also very heavily rooted in the old school era of the genre along with the tremolo picking in the fast riffing also giving the recording more of a raw feeling.
The songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one track also sticking to more of a synth orientated style and the ep also closes with a cover of mayhem's "Funeral Fog". The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover death, darkness and necromancy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Trance Of The Undead and if you are a fan of experimental, war and bestial black/death metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dawn Of Resurrection" and "Retribution For The Dead (Astral Punishment)". 8 out of 10.
