Kolp are a band from Hungary that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very raw, grim and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Cured but Not Healed" which was released by Lost Horizon Productions.
Distorted drones start off the album before adding in heavy riffing before going into a faster direction and the blast beats and tremolo picking also gives the songs a more raw and old school feeling as well as the riffs also mixing in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies and 90's influences.
Vocals are mostly grim yet depressive black metal screams while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very raw yet melodic fashion and clean yet distorted guitars are also used briefly and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that at present on the recording.
Kolp creates another recording that remains true to the raw, grim and depressive black metal style from the previous release, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Kolp and if you are a fan of raw and depressive black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Air Decrease" "Pitch-Dark Circles" and "Decompose(Till Only Skin Remains)'. 8 out of 10.
