Arkhon Infaustus are a band from France that has an album reviewed before in this zine and plays a bestial mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Passing The Nekromanteion" which will be released in October by Les Acteurs de l'Ombre Productions.
Dark yet melodic riffing starts off the album while also being very heavy at the same time along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and after awhile death metal growls as well as some ritualistic chanting starts to make their presence known and psychedelic touches are also used briefly.
All of the tracks are very long and epic in length while tormented black metal screams are also utilized at times and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the riffing also mixes in a decent amount of dissonant structures, when tremolo picking is utilized it gives the music more of a raw feeling and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very dark and melodic fashion and they close the album with an instrumental.
On this recording Arkhon Infaustus remain true to a satanic and occult style of black/death metal that was established on previous releases while also updating their sound for a more modern era as well as displaying a great amount of progress and skill as musicians, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Arkhon Infaustus and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Precipice Where Souls Wither" and "Corrupted Epignosis". 8 out of 10.
