Dun are a band from France that plays a very raw and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Hors du Gouffre" which will be released in autumn by Heathen Tribes.
Heavy and melodic riffing starts off the album along with all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful and after awhile grim black metal screams are added onto the recording while the faster sections of the songs brings in a decent amount of blast beats along with all of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
During the faster sections of the songs the tremolo picking gives the songs a more raw feeling while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic fashion along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's tradition and as the album progresses clean playing can also be heard briefly on a couple of tracks.
Dun plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic and traditional sounding, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Dun are a very great sounding raw and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Le Sabbat de Minuit" and "Muraille". 8 out of 10.
