Lycopolis are a band from Egypt that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2020 single "Guardian".
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the song along with the vocals being mostly grim sounding black metal screams. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar as well as some Middle Eastern scales also being added into the guitar leads and when the music speeds up blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the tracks more of a raw feeling, the song also adds in decent amount of 90's influences.
On this track Lycopolis remains true to the raw style of black metal that they have established on previous releases. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness themes.
in my opinion this is another great sounding track from Lycopolis and if you are a fan of r aw black metal, you should check out this single. 8 out of 10.
