Fire Magic are a duo form the United States that plays a scalding and triumphant form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 demo "Burning Gold" which was released by Stygian Black Hand.
Dark sounding synths start off the ep before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats. Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave era while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic yet old school style. Acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly along with each track also sounding different from each other and a small amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing., synth also make a return on the closing song.
Fire Magic plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school sounding as well as adding in some influences of the Eastern Bloc bands. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover battle lore and fire mysticism themes.
In my opinion Fire Magic are a very great sounding scalding and triumphant black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Burning Gold". 8 out of 10.
