Brown Jenkins are a band from Austin, Texas that has been interviewed before by this zine, with a music style that mixes black metal with drone and funeral doom and this is a review of their 2008 album "Angel Eyes" which was released by Moribund Records.
Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone which follows the riffs that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars are mostly slow to mid paced riffs that combine black metal, doom metal, drone and noise rock together to create something very dark and heavy, and there are no lead guitars or solos present on this recording.
Vocals are mostly deep growls, while the lyrics cover darkness and dying, as for the production it has a very dark and heavy sound to it.
In my opinion this was a great album from Brown Jenkins and if you are looking for a band that combines funeral doom, drone and black metal together you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Procession" "The Ash Eaters" and "Forever Funeral". RECOMMENDED BUY.
