Hellbeast are a band from Massachusetts that plays a mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Genocide Rituals" which was released by Vanguard Productions.
Horror movie samples start off the ep and after the intro the music starts going for more of an early 90's raw black/war metal sound and there is also a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts present throughout the recording along with some of the darker side of death metal in the melodies.
A great amount of the music has a very lo-fi feeling and some of the later songs also bring in a small amount of growls and the songs also bring back the feeling of a great amount of early 90's demos that where very under produced and you can also hear a bit of the primitive sloppiness of that era and the songs also sound like they could of easily been recorded and released during that time frame and one of the songs also brings in a brief use of clean singing and melodic guitar leads.
Hellbeast creates some black/death/war metal that is very heavily rooted in the early days of those genres and also bring back some great memories from that era, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Blasphemous themes along with one of the tracks being written in German.
In my opinion Hellbeast are a very great sounding old school mixture of black, death and war metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres , you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Drone Strike Baphomet" and "Ascend Subterran Hell". 8 out of 10.
