Sweden's Aggressive Mutilator have returned with a new recording which continues their raw mixture of black metal, thrash and hardcore punk and this is a review of their 2018 album "Det Djavlanastet" which was released on cassette by Viceral Vomit Records.
Distorted sounds start off the album before going into a very fast and raw black metal direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals a re done in mostly a first wave screaming style along with the music also being very heavily influenced by thrash.
A great amount of hardcore punk elements can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the tracks also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the guitar leads being done in a very melodic fashion when they are utilized and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody, they also bring in a couple of synth instrumentals before returning back to a heavier direction.
Aggressive Mutilator creates another recording that remains true to the raw mixture of black metal, thrash and hardcore punk from previous releases, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in a mixture of Swedish and English and cover sickness, rituals, evil and lust themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Aggressive Mutilator and if you are a fan of raw black metal, thrash and hardcore punk, you should check out this cassette. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hypocrite Church" "The Orb" and "Ripper Bastard". 8 out of 10.
