This is a review of another recording from Colorado's Vger which continues the mixture of ambient black metal, blackgaze and trip hop from his previous release and the ep was released in 2019 and called "rhi".
Dark soundscapes start off the ep while most of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the synths also adding in elements of ambient and darkwave. Programmed beats are also a very huge part of the recording and the heavier riffs also add in a good amount of melody.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in more of a melodic style along with the vocals adding in more of a deeper style of depressive black metal. Elements of trip hop are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs as well as all of the tracks sounding different from each other and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
On this recording Vger remains true to his mixture of ambient black metal, blackgaze and trip hop while also adding in more darkwave elements this time around. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Vger and if you are a fan of darkwave, ambient black metal, blackgaze and trip hop, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "rhi". 8 out of 10.
