This is a review of another recording from Italy's Necrolust which shows the music going for more of an occult black metal style and the ep was released in 2020 by Art Inferna and called "The Abyss".
Horror movie style keyboards start off the ep along with some melodic guitar solos and leads a few seconds later. When the music speeds up a great amount of programmed beats can be heard while the vocals bring in a mixture of demonic growls and grim sounding black metal screams and all of the songs are in the two and a half minute length.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing. At times the music also gets very ritualistic sounding as well as all of the tracks sounding very different from each other and the music also shows an influence of the earlier 90's style.
On this recording Necrolust creates more of an old school yet ritualistic style of occult black metal. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Voodoo, Thelema and Necromancy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Necrolust and if you are a fan of ritualistic occult black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Voodoo Majestic" and "Necromancy". 8 out of 10.
