Vile Haint Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Vile Haint is a newly created raw avant-garde black metal band designed to further explore certain ideas that didn't quite fit with one of our other bands, Primeval Well.

2.You have an album coming out towards the end of May, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

We were going for a more deliberately evil and somewhat more traditional black metal vibe while still retaining harsh dissonance at times and a somewhat experimental approach.

3.A lot of your lyrics cover satanic and occult themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?

I wouldn't describe the lyrics as overtly satanic or occult. They're certainly dark but we largely avoid anything so obvious.

4.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects you have explored with the music?

One of the sources of lyrical material is west TN folklore centered around ghosts or "haints" passed down to our drummer through older members of his family.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Vile Haunt'?

A haint is an older Southern term for 'ghost', so Vile Haint basically means disgusting ghost, or something to that effect.

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?

It depicts a haunted swamp.

7.Would the band members be open to do any live shows once the pandemic end?

Yes.

8.The album is going to be released on 'Moonlight Cypress Archives', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

Moonlight Cypress Archetypes will be releasing haunting music of the black metal/ experimental metal/ Southern sludge prog metal/ improvised (free jazz) metal/ drone metal/ Southern gothic/ dark folk persuasion(s). Vile Haint is the label's first release.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

That remains to be seen as the album isn't out yet.

10.What is going on with 'Primevel Well' these days, a band that also shares some of the same band members?

The second Primeval Well album is already done and will be released in October of this year via Moonlight Cypress Archetypes. Primeval Well also is playing a show on May 29th in Bowling Green, Kentucky with Bihargam.

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Further down the now-established line of thinking that's been developed with this album. In fact, the 2nd Vile Haint album is already mixed and mastered and both the 3rd and 4th albums are already written.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Bands like Domgard, Azelisassath, and Hadanfard have been influential to this music to some extent as well as Craft and certain aspects of Sorhin and Darkthrone. We've been listening to a lot of bluegrass and Hank Sr. lately.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to the official release.
