Agasch Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Agasch is a German black metal band consisting of 4 permanent members. The first ideas were created in 2019 and the first release followed in 2020.

2.So far you have released a couple of singles, ep and full length, musically how do they all differ from each other?

The work on our current album Waldgeist actually started in 2020. In 2021 we went into the studio to Florian Dammasch, who saw potential in our young black metal band and delivered a very good mix with Nightside Audios. With the first singles, our style was created. This can still be found on the current album. Our EP "Irrlicht" was created in winter and spring 2021, which we recorded, mixed, and released ourselves in the same year.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

The lyrics are mostly conceptual. Common themes are nature, fears, hate, and pain. Philosophy enthusiastic fans will surely notice that we want to express our own way of linking psychological suffering and nature.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Agasch'?

The name has several origins, the exact meaning we keep to ourselves.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

The figure on the cover symbolizes fear and despair. The ambience of the painting is very coherent with our music. The firs in the background carry sinister looks that haunt the forest spirit and are present even when the gaze is averted.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

This year we started to play live with Agasch, and we were very surprised how positive the reactions of the audience are. Seeing Agasch live means fog, atmosphere, and of course, black metal that captivates you. We smoke on stage and mix an individual blend for each show.

7.Do you have any touring or shows plans for the future?

Individual concerts are coming up. Apart from that, we can't give you more information yet, but we want to play live and are looking for opportunities to show ourselves on stage.

8.You also have a couple of quests on the new album, can you tell us a little bit more about who they are and also their contributions to the recording?

We have several artists on our current album. Jan Winterherz, who also plays in the band "Waldgeflüster" among others, fit perfectly into our concept and with his unmistakable clear vocals, he gave a distinctive contribution to "Des Waldgeists Tod" and the completed version of "Umnachtete Gestalt des inneren Wesens." Lestaya played the cello for us and gave the album an acoustic touch. The intro was spoken for us by Bert Stevens, a German actor and narrator.

9.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

We have already looked at a few offers, but so far we haven't found the right one, so we decided to do a self-release with Waldgeist. We still hope to find a suitable label soon.

10.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of atmospheric black metal?

We were very surprised; we received orders from all corners of the world. We are surprised where our music is heard everywhere. The reactions were very positive, and that motivates us a lot.

11.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that the band members are a part of?

A few members of the band have side projects and also active bands, but they have no influence on Agasch.

12.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We are already working on new material. Some of it is already finished and in the starting blocks, but it will surely take a while until a new album is completed.

13.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

The influences should be recognizable, but there is no band we have followed more closely. We have tried to give our genre our own personal touch. We often listen to the same bands. But everyone has his own personal taste. Mainly bands from all spectrums of black metal.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

We thank you for the interview and the fans for their support.
