Lvctvs Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the solo project?

Lvctvs came to life at the moment that writing became too little for me to express my emotions. Before making music I used to write a lot, and I always wrote about my own depression, and the philosophical way I see the world through my existential misadventures. The next step to give more emphasis to my pseudo-poesies was to make music, and the musical genre I listen to the most is (DSBM) so it fits perfectly with my depressive, emotional and negative writing. It was thus that after a deep reflection I began to immerse myself more in the musical genre Depressive Suicidal Black Metal, but looking for a way to do it with the musical knowledge that I was gradually acquiring. It wasn't until several years after I became musically soaked that my Lvctvs project was born from the rotten bowels of existence.

2.In May you have released a new album, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

This new album has a bit of the same rawness that Lvctvs has always had in their music, although the production is a bit cleaner. But in general the new album La Réproba Mazmorra de mi Ser is characterized by putting new melodies in synth to make the sound of Lvctvs a little more emotional and lacerating. The lyrics always talk about the fundamental topics of depression, death, existentialism, suicide and suffering. The compositions are definitely a bit more worked in both guitars and drums, and the long epic duration of the songs that also characterizes Lvctvs is preserved.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with the solo project?

The subjects sung in Lvctvs I have already mentioned them previously, but I reiterate them, always the global focus is the depressed state of being from which other themes such as death, existentialism, suicide, and suffering are deployed, just to mention a few.

4.With your other project you have covered satanic and occult themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?

My other project is called Fullmoon Procession, and there the lyrics are based on war, blood, death and occultism, all this interest in that theme comes from the fact of wanting to delve deeper into the dark side of being, it always comes to my mind that we are something more than what we superficially show to the world, and death is a rather mystical topic that makes me delve into themes of the occult world.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Lvctvs'?

The inspiration for the name Lvctvs comes from the same fact that no one can avoid death, so thinking about death in my moments of deep depression I came to a conclusion and then I found the name mourning which I then converted into ancient Latin and wrote it as Lvctvs. In this way I show what I feel with my music, which is a form of mourning towards our own being.

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

This artwork manifests everything that the album relates, it is a thick atmosphere that has invaded my being which I consider to be a dungeon in which I am immersed, and from there I get the name of the album La Réproba Mazmorra de mi Ser. You can also see a man on the edge of an abyss, that is the inner abyss that makes me a prisoner of myself, and I am my own executioner as the Heautontimorumenos.

7.With this project you record everything by yourself but have experience working with another musician in a different project, do you prefer to work solo?

In my own experience I will always prefer to work solo because my ideas are more focused, I feel that with other musicians the essence of what I want is dispersed. When I have an idea to make music I just sit down to compose and everything flows in the right direction without discussing anything with other members, it saves me time.

8.In 2022 you were also a part of a split, what are your thoughts on the other bands or musical projects that have participated on the recording?

About the other musical bands my opinion is that they are very good projects, almost always mostly (one man band) which makes them even greatest because that way you keep more cohesion with what you want to transmit, all those Dsbm projects are very good at what they do, music that touches the core of the soul.

9.On a worldwide level, how has the reaction been to your music by fans of depressive black metal?

I have seen a lot of support given to Lvctvs from many parts of the world especially from Europe, I think Dsbm anyway is a musical genre that should always be kept in the sewers of existence as it is not something that is usually heard on the surface like any other sub-genre of Metal could be. Although lately I have seen a lot of younger people approaching the Dsbm genre especially from Mexico or Brazil.

10.What is going on with 'Fullmoon Procession' these days?

Huertanian(H666) is the other member of our Fullmoon Procession project, and is still composing, we are already recording new material to make a second demo that will finally see the light of this decadent world soon.

11.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?

For me it is important to continue with my project Lvctvs pointing in the same direction of Dsbm and that's how I will stay although in my ideas I may want to bring some other elements to my musical manifestation but that will only happen when the muses that tear my existence will appear.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I tend to listen to very varied music although if I can name Depressive Black Metal I can say that bands like Happy Days, Nocturnal Depression, Austere, Begotten, Apati, Lifelover, have been for me some of the bands that have made a dent in my way of doing a depressive variant of Black Metal.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

May I first thank you for your interest in doing this interview, because it is always good to let people know a little of what some projects have to offer musically. I like that people are gradually coming to this genre but keep it as something precious with which they can reflect on various aspects of their lives, and in this interview I really liked the approach you have given with your questions related to the whole musical context of Lvctvs and of course with Raal Prez. Thanks a lot.
