Dorchadas are a solo project from Scotland that plays a very raw, depressive and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2023 ep "Disciple Of The Wtness" which will be released on June 30th by Fiadh productions.
Tribal style drum beats and dark soundscapes start off the ep along with some synths a few seconds later which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Vocals are mostly high pitched yet depressive sounding black metal screams and melodies can also b e heard in some of the guitar riffing.
The music also has its atmospheric moments while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly on a couple of tracks with one song also introducing growls into the music and the mid tempo sections of the songs are also very heavily rooted in the old school era, clean playing is also added on the closing track.
Dorchadas plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric, depressive and r aw sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Darkness, Gaelic Folklore and Lovecraftian themes.
In my opinion Dorchadas are a very great sounding raw, depressive and atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a f an of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Pit Of heresy". 8 out of 10.
