Earth Weary Twin are a solo project from Austin, Texas that plays a very depressive from of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2023 album "Thanatopsis".
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the drum b eats are also programmed and one of the tracks is also an instrumental.
Vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams while the guitar riffing focuses more on a power chord driven style which also adds to the rawness of the recording, melodic riffing can also be heard briefly along with the closing track being very long and epic in length and adding in a brief use of clean playing.
Earth Weary Twin plays a style of black metal that is very depressive and raw sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover depression, melancholy and suicide themes.
In my opinion Earth Weary Twin are a very great sounding depressive black metal solo project and if you are a f an of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Echoes of my Desolate Existence" "Dying Light" and "Echoes of A Lonely Soul". 8 out of 10.
