Nokk are a band from Columbus, Ohio that plays a very aggressive and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2023 ep "Repel The Incursion".
A very fast and raw sound starts off t he ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. You can also hear all of the musical instruments on the recording while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams as well as the guitar riffing also adding in a great amount of melody.\
\ Throughout the recording you can also h ear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the songs also add in a lot of old school influences. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and the whole recording also sticks to a heavier direction.
Nokk plays a style of black metal that is very aggressive and melodic sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics focus more on darker subjects and topics.
In my opinion Nokk are a very great sounding melodic and aggressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Sitting Through The Ashes". 8 out of 10.
