Brakel are a band from Belgium that plays a very raw form of black metal with elements of power electronics and this is a review of their 2024 album "Wranger Wanen" which will be released in May by Signal Rex.
Distorted sounding synths start off the album while also introducing power electronics into the music which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a r aw feeling.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music also captures a very lo-fi atmosphere at times. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style as well as some of the music also adding in old school touches.
v brakel plays a style of black metal that is very raw and lo-fi as well as adding in elements of power electronics to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Belgian and cover darkness and horror themes.
In my opinion Brakel are a very great sounding raw and lo-fi black metal band with elements of power electronics and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Kwadeplas" "Dwaalrag" and "Zonderling En Grang". 8 out of 10.
