HKSPK/Heimkehr/2026 Full Length Review

  HKSPK  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  has  been  featured  before  in t his  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  an  atmospheric mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2026  album  "Heimkehr"  which  will  be  released  in  September.

  Water  sounds  and  keyboards  start  off  the  album  while  spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats   and  raw  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Vocals  are  a  mixture  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  while.  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  A  small  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing,  spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  tracks  along  with  a  couple  of  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  guitar  solos  and  leads  and  clean  playing  and  the  album  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments.

  On  this  recording  HKSPK  continue  to  expand  on  the  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  that  they  introduced  on  their  previous  release.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  memory,  comradeship,  loss  and  the  consequences  of  past  battles:  returning  home  but  not  returning  whole.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  HKSPK  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLDUE  "Torture"  "Kill  The  Weak"  and  "Heimkehr".  8  out  of  10.
