Vinter are a band from Mexico that plays a very depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "When Everything Dies" which was released by Depressive Illusions.
The album starts out with human suffering sounds before adding in melodic singing and a couple of minutes later clean guitars and drums are added into the music as well as having an ambient feeling to the song and it continues in this direction when the second song comes on for a minute before going into a heavier direction.
Once the heavy parts kick in the music goes into a more slow black metal direction along with some depressive screams while also still utilizing an ambient atmosphere which also utilizes elements of post rock as well as adding in dark sounding melodies and the album keeps a very melancholic and suicidal feeling to it and the music never goes into a fast direction until around the 6th song which adds to the tranquility of the recording but the music does have its heavy moments as well as adding some tragic sounding pianos and on the fourth song drones make their way onto the record and when guitar solos are utilized they use a great amount of skill and talent.
Vinter have their own approach to depressive black metal, while there are vocals utilized at times the band concentrates more on instrumental work to get their message across and it adds to their dark and tragic take on this sub genre.
Song lyrics when they are utilized cover dark, depressive and suicidal themes, while the production has a very raw, dark and heavy sound to it along with some of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Vinter are a very decent and different sounding depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nostalgia Arises" "Ashes of A Suicidal Life" and "When Everything Dies". 8 out of 10.
