Stonehaven/Self Titled/2011 CD Review

Stonehaven are a band from Kansas that has been interviewed as well as had their previous album reviewed in this zine with a music style that I would describe as being raw pagan black metal and this is a review of their self released and self titled album.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a great amount of blast beats being thrown in, while the bass playing has a very powerful tone that is very dominant throughout the recording.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast raw black metal riffs that have a traditional metal feeling to them at times and there is some melodies being used at times, and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.

Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics paganism, nature and philosophy, as for the production it has a very dark, raw, powerful and heavy feel with all of the musical instruments having a great sound.

In my opinion this is another great album from Stonehaven and if you where a fan of their previous album, you will not be disappointed. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Suffering The Swine-Array" and "Sword Rape". RECOMMENDED BUY.
