Arthedain are a duo from Germany that plays a contemporary form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 ep "Arias Exalted".
A very fast and raw black metal sound starts off the ep along with some blast beats and a few seconds later deep and grim screams are added into the music which also get high pitched at times and you can also hear some atmospheric element s in the background at times along with a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
At times the music can be very melodic sounding and you can also hear a bit of the Swedish black metal sound in the bands musical style at times but done with More of an up to date take on the genre and you can also hear some leads at times that add in more melody into the songs when they are utilized and there as also a brief acoustic instrumental before closing the ep with a heavier track.
Arthedain plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic and heavy without falling into either the old school or post genres and they also add more of a modern approach with their songs, the production sounds very powerful fro being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Arthedain are a very great sounding contemporary black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Visions Of Fire" and "Traverse the Path of thorns". 8 out of 10.
