This is a review of a split album between Austria/Sweden Carathis and Canada's Sulfure which will be released in 2022 during February by Personal Records and we will start off the review with Carathis a duo that plays a very raw and melodic form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with raw tremolo picking while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. When the music speeds up a lot of blast beats can also be heard along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams and the music also adds in a decent amount of 90's influences.
Throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style along with all of the songs also sticking to a heavier direction. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the Queen Of The Tower.
In my opinion Carathis are a very great sounding raw and melodic black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Infiltrate The Council" and "Illuminate the Night Sky".
Next up is Sulfure a band that plays a very raw and misanthropic form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark sounding intro which also adds in a brief use of clean playing before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. Vocals also add in a decent mixture of deep growls which also adds in touches of death metal and black metal screams.
Throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them, synths can also b e heard on the closing track. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover misanthropy and mental illness themes.
In my opinion Sulfure are a very great sounding raw and misanthropic black metal band if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Sigmate".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of raw, melodic and misanthropic black metal.
