Wormlust Interview

  •

  • 1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the project these days?
    1. Yes, easily.
2.How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it differs from previous releases?
Wall of sound-esque , and the wall is the wailing one
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
.singularity, both spiritual and physical. Prepeationd for the inevitable - allegorical memento mori.
4.I know that the band started out as Wolfheart but had a name change, what was the decision behind the change and also what is the meaning and inspiration behind the name Wormlust?
4.It ties in with the lyrical theme. The previous one did not.

5.Currently there is only 1 member in the project, do you feel you have alot more room to be creative then you where in the past working with a full band?
    5. That's not true, but the music is mine. I believe the premise answers itself, but feedback can be as important as the creation of the work itself. Does a bedroom black metaller make a sound if he falls down in the woods?
6.The last album came out on Demonhood Productions, how would you describe the support you got from the label with this release?
    6. Skip.
7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
    7. I haven't the faintest idea honestly, reading the occasional review can be insightful into what can be done better as well how things can be perceived differently. It can be flattering to hear that someone likes your art but that's really as far as that conversation can go
8.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
    8. Backwards , into more primitive and ghostly trance inducing sounds.
9.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
    9. Driving today is listened to swans, mercyful fate and s.f sorrow. it is rather random, but if its trippy and or ghostly then i am in.
10.How would you describe your views on Occultism?
    10. That giving weight to the notion hidden inner secrets is giving us a species way too much credit and frankly escapist. I do though believe in rituals and routines as the social/cathartic powers they are but otherwise to be defined by the romantic idea that veils need uncovering is childish. I am of course commenting on literalism and not the style/social structure
11.The project is from Iceland a country that is not known for metal bands despite the pagan past, are there any other bands from the country that you would recommend?
Chao, std, vansköpun and gone postal. Growing up potentiam was a major influence.

12.Outside of music what are some of your interests?
    12. Answering interviews, hallucinating, procrastinating, being ironic.
13.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
    13. Insert eclectic quote or non sequitur quasi intellectual philosophical ramblings here.
