Nogrod Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

1.We're a Blackened Death Metal band from the Northeastern Corner of India. We always wanted to do something in our local scene; we wanted to do something different here. That is how Nogrod took its form. Though we're a Black Metal band, we're not Satanic. Not all Black Metal bands are Satanic, that's a stereotype. We're of humanistic view. Humanism before anything.

2.In May you had released an ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

2. We tried sticking to the roots. We wanted the raw and the old Black Metal sound in our Ep. That's what we tried to do.

3.Your lyrics cover a lot of anti religion topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your hatred for religion?

3. Religion has been eating our civilization since its beginning. It has been deteriorating human society. It is the worst man made plague the world has ever seen.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Nogrod'?

4. The word Nogrod is taken from the language Khuzdul invented by J. R. R. Tolkien. During the Years of the Trees the western Fathers of the Dwarves awoke from beneath Mount Dolmed creating the lines of the Broadbeams and the Firebeards. These two houses built the great Dwarven cities of Nogrod and Belegost in the Blue Mountains. We chose the Dwarves of LOTR because they were the most richest, the most dignified and they completed their quests; though help from many others, they're the ones who defeated evil in the end.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

5. For now, the band's main interest is to write quality stuffs. We're giving the preference to our compositions as of now. But we do have many tours upcoming throughout our country and we'll try to do foreign tours after we release a full length album next year.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

6. Yes, we have all India tours upcoming this year and the next. We'll try foreign tours after we do the full length album.

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

7. Yes, we have received a couple of interests. We would like to remain unsigned as of now. We'll try for good labels after the full length album.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

8. In terms of the local scene, the feedback is massive. All underground fans and that's what we want. We don't want a fake fan following. We mentioned the word massive because the fans we have now are real metal lovers unlike the new age so called metalheads. You know, ha ha !

And in terms of international scene, we have a credible response from the UK, US, Europe and a few from Australia. No response from the Middle-east. We hope the Middle-east revives from the wars ignited by the dangerous man made plague we mentioned earlier.

9.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

9. The full length album is due next year. As in our bio, we try to keep getting better day by day without diverging from our roots.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

10. As a band, we are highly influenced by Dark Funeral, Belphegor, Watain, Dissection, Behemoth, Emperor and even the Indian band Heathen Beast. Individually, we're influenced by several others. Even from many other genres and we love Indian Classical Music very much.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

11. Apart from music, some of us are into traveling & exploration, some of us are into Martial Arts. Rohan likes to read lots of books, know more stuffs and travel extensively. Bhaskar is into MMA and is a Fitness enthusiast. Dhiraj and Ritu (new addition to our band) are bikers and travelers.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

12. Before we wrap up, we highly appreciate this interview. Thank you very much. Our thoughts are to represent the local scene Nationally and Globally if possible. Watch out for us. We'll be rising and help others too.

Thank you once again. See you soon.
