Damnation Prayer/Blood Ritual: Symbols Of Warfare And Annihilation/2022 Full Length Review

 

  Damnation  Prayer  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  a  very  violent  and atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2022  album  "Blood  Ritual:  Symbols  Of  Warfare  And  Annihilation".

  Atmospheric  sounding  keyboards  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  All  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  vocals a re  done  in  mostly  a  growling  style.

  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  also  bring  in  an  old  school  style.  Angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  apocalyptic orientated  also  being  added  into  some  parts  of  the  recording  as  well  as  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Finnish  style.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  plague  and  darkness  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Damnation  Prayer  are  a  very  great  sounding  violent  and  atmospheric  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRA CKS  INCLUDE  "Temples  Of  Flesh"  Scorched"  and  "Into  Burning  Oblivion".  8  out  of  10.
