Nebran are a solo project from Germany that plays an old school form of atmospheric black metal and this is a review of his 2022 album "...Of Long Forgotten Times" which will be released by Van Records.
Synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times while a great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while some songs also add in a small amount of clean playing and acoustic guitars. Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the era 90's era Nordic style along with all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
A couple of the tracks are also instruments instrumentals along with one song also adding in a brief use of folk instruments as well as the whole album also sticking to either a slow or mid tempo direction and as the recording progresses spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover the dark ages, long forgotten times, nature, modern society, self-denial and misanthropy themes.
In my opinion Nebran are a very great sounding old school atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Fugitive From A Fallen Empire Pt. 1" "Against The Modern World" and "The Witch (That Never Existed)". 8 out of 10.
