Solipsism are a duo from Australia that plays a very raw, old school and vampyric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Cruelty & Necrospection" which will be released on June 24th, 2022 by Hells Headbangers Records.
A very fast, raw and lo-fi sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era and shows influences of the French Black Legions scene and early Black Funeral.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of sow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark, raw and melodic style. A small amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing along with a later track also adding in a brief use of keyboards.
Solipsism plays a musical style that goes back to the raw and lo-fi style of vampyric black metal from the 90's era. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover vampirism, darkness, death and depression themes.
In my opinion Solipsism are a very great sounding raw, old school and vampyric black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Blinded Amongst The Legions" and "Alone With My Thoughts Again". 8 out of 10.
